Farmer Gal Ramble
March 24, 2009 I've been cleaning yesterday and today, and when I clean the mind tends to wander all over the place. Here's some of what I was mulling over...
The Definition of Insanity
They say that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
This is what happens when I clean my house. I expect that somehow, magically, this time it will remain in its cleanly state for all eternity. Then I am saddened and frustrated when this doesn't happen.
It's insanity, I tell ya.
I can't stop cleaning my house, but I can stop expecting the same result, so this time, I'm trying to make peace with the fact that it will get messy and dirty all over again -- probably sooner rather than later -- and yes, I will in fact have to clean it again.
Even a sweet pepper is still a pepper.
That's the mental health installment for today. And now your local news...
Manual
I don't know if you'll think this is funny, but I thought it was funny... The other day, Mr. Blue Eyes was trying to take a few pictures of Miss Peaches. The camera was in manual mode. Usually he just switches it to auto and off he goes. He was looking at the switch and asked me, in all seriousness, "Does 'M' mean more light or less light?" I laughed. I don't know why I found that so funny, I just did. I guess it had to do with the way he asked it, so sincere and serious. I just got a kick out of it. I realize now that instead of laughing at my husband for not knowing the settings on the camera (how rude could I be?) maybe I should teach him instead. I think he could be really good at it if I showed him a thing or two. And that's all I could show him -- a thing or two -- because that's all I know.
These Boots ARE NOT MADE For Walking
This is in reference to the picture above. Them there are my boots. I bought them a few years ago because I liked the looks of them and I needed new riding boots. The thing is, since they were purchased I have birthed two babes and my feet are just not the same as they were before, and now these boots just don't do the trick for me. They do just fine for riding... when I'm using the horses feet to get around and not my own... but when I walk around it's just not good. I keep thinking that eventually I'm going to break them in and they will somehow become pliable and comfortable. I've now come to accept the fact that this just ain't gonna happen. At least I got a good photo out of them.
This Chicken IS MADE For Eating
Just give this chicken recipe a try. You'll be glad you did. Unless you don't like chicken, or mushrooms, or white wine, or cream sauce. Then just disregard this public service announcement.
We now return to your regularly scheduled programming.

Too funny. I appreciate your take on insanity. I find that cleaning causes MY insanity. With a 9 year old and a 4 year old running around - in and out - up and down - my house is typically a disaster. Nothing stays clean and I often think my husband must wonder what I do all day. : ) Even if it looks great in the morning, chances are it won't by afternoon!

Hey! The sun came out for a few minutes! I am dancing around right now! I even got out an old CD of Shania Twain and got a little energy to do some pick up around here! I like your boots. I can def understand where you are coming from when you say your feet are not the same after babies. (Not to mention other things ) I used to have a size 8 and my feet grew one complete size each pregnancy! I wonder what size they would be if I had kept having more than two babies? Big Foot for sure!
Isnt that the truth! "its impossible to have a complete clean house!!" I love your photo of the day! The rustic colors says it alll!!! Thanks for your comments. I did add photo to I heart Faces. Love that site!!! Just discovered it couple weeks ago!!! Im loving meeting all the bloggers from that site as well as Mother May I!!!
Your post about your boots reminded me of a similar story. 15 years ago my then teenage daughter begged me for a pair of black Doc Marten boots ($100) for her birthday and I succumbed and got them for her. She wore them once and she said they were too stiff and hurt her to wear them and into her closet they went, and there they sat. I nagged occasionally and finally she said, "If you want them Mom, you can have them". I accept her kind offer, wore them and broke them in and I still have them, wear them and love them! They are my camping, go the mountains and look lilke a biker chick boots. :-)
Hmmm... Maybe my boots are just meant for someone else's feet! I kind of hate to part with them, but if I can't wear them someone else should!
